Experience
Legal Roles
Prior to joining McIntyre Szabo PC, Rushil (he/him) supported hospitals and research institutes across Canada in multiple legal roles. He commenced his role as an intern with the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC). Thereafter, he competed his articles and supported the Contracts Office of RI-MUHC. In 2022, Rushil joined The Hospital for Sick Children’s (SickKids) Legal Services portfolio. He primarily identified, addressed and managed legal needs in support of SickKids' business and strategic objectives through effective fact-finding, research and the provision of high-quality legal advice and in a manner that reflects the organization's risk tolerance.
Practice Areas
Rushil is adept at providing legal advice to hospitals and research institutes in Canada. He regularly reviews, drafts and negotiates contracts and research agreements with industry partners to ensure effective collaboration on novel study protocols/projects. This includes clinical trial agreements, data and patient health information transfer agreements, material (human and non-human transfer agreements, master service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, software as a service agreements and others. Rushil also has his CIPP/E and CIPM privacy designations to support healthcare institutions with their privacy needs.
Health Industry
Rushil has gained valuable insights on the functioning of the various departments that ensure the smooth functioning of hospitals and research institutes. He has experience in finding effective solutions to legal issues by communicating and coordinating with various internal stakeholders, such as Research Ethics Boards, intellectual property and commercialization departments, risk and privacy departments, etc.
External Activities
Rushil is currently a Volunteer Board Member with the Canadian Occupational Therapy Foundation.
Outside the Law
Rushil enjoys being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He is a fitness enthusiast. He has been a state level ping pong player. He is brown belt in Karate. Most importantly, Rushil is a dog parent and spends most of his time with his Shiba Inu pup – Shiro who regularly comes into the McIntyre Szabo PC office.
