About the firm
McIntyre Szabo PC was founded in 2023 to provide Ontario healthcare institutions and regulated health providers with dependable, responsive, creative and cost-effective legal services.
The firm is led by John McIntyre and Jessica Szabo. Their approach is unique because they are both experienced health lawyers and litigators trained on Bay Street at BLG, while also each having a masters degree in the health field. The mix of their legal and health industry experience allows them to better navigate clients’ needs and challenges to provide practical and tailored advice.
The firm is a premiere boutique health law firm offering a full complement of litigation and other health law services to clients, while also advancing improvements to the health system through education, publication, consultation and advocacy. The firm was shortlisted in 2024 for Benchmark Litigation Canada’s Health Law/Medical Firm of the Year Award.

How we offer our services
Our law firm is made up of five lawyers based in Toronto, but we are available both remotely and in-person throughout Ontario and Canada generally.
We have close referral networks to connect our clients to the services they need even if we don’t offer them in-house, such as labour & employment or criminal law advice.
We routinely work on an hourly rate, transparent flat-fee or subscription-fee basis and seek creative ways to keep our clients’ legal costs low. Our firm also offers sliding scale rates based on one’s ability to pay. For example, we offer lower rates for students than for practicing professionals in recognition of the financial burden of education.
